Training - Advanced Courses Journeymen

Throughout the year, the Training Center Offers Advanced Upgrade Classes for our journeymen.  Be sure to check the calendar for the current class schedule.  The following is a list of the courses that are commonly held at the training center.

NOTE:  Some courses or circumstances may require a monetary deposit to be made that will be refunded upon passing the course.

Welding Course

This 72-Hour course is usually held on Saturdays.  This course will cover SMAW, MIG, & TIG welding.  Local 22 Training Center is an AWS Accredited Test Facility.  At the end of the course all participants will have the option of taking an AWS D1.1 weld certification test.  If an individual options not to take the 72-Hour course and only take the D1.1 weld certification, a deposit must be made prior to testing and will only be returned to the individuals who pass the test.

OSHA - 30

This seminar covers subject areas that are the leading cause of injury and death in the construction industry.  The student will be able to identify common causes of accidents and fatalities and how to avoid them.  Course completion cards will be issued by OSHA.  Completion cards have no expiration date.

Computer Training

This 60-Hour course is designed for the journeyperson with little or no computer experience, or would like to brush up on computer skills.  The course will cover the software and hardware of the computer and their respective functions including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of the Internet.

AutoCAD

This 84-Hour course is usually held 2 nights a week.  This comprehensive course will consist of the latest version of AutoCAD and will cover Plans & Specs with AutoCAD format, and estimating.  If an individual has little computer experience and would like to take this course it is highly recommended that the Computer Training Course be taken prior.

Aerial Work Platform Operator Safety Training

This one full day program has been developed so the sheet metal worker will be able to identify and prevent the most common safety hazards related to aerial work platform operations.  This program will meet all current OSHA and ANSI requirements.
